dinant     Fragility Fractures Management: Challenges and Updates

Osteoporotic fractures will reach epidemic proportions in the near future, presenting increasing challenges to health care professionals worldwide.  By 2050, hip fracture incidence may triple and are predicted to increase fourfold to fivefold.

Orthopaedic surgeons can do their part in this campaign by collaborating with other medical specialists and making it a priority to address the fragility fracture problem in their practices and research.  Effective long-term management of osteoporosis, short-term fracture management and fracture services are more critical than ever.  The sooner fractures are treated, the less impact they will have on patients' quality of life and their ability to fully recover.

Along this meeting, international and Belgian experts will get together their experience in treatment and management of fragility fractures to propose protocols for treatment of this increasing pathology.
